Last Ten Kentucky Derby Winners - Favorites and Longshots

The Kentucky Derby is a fabulous event. With the ladies wearing their hats, the fans in the infield, and the singing of My Old Kentucky Home, everyone seems to have a good time. For a while, the favorite had a heck of a time winning. In 2000, Fusaichi Pegasus finally came home as the winning favorite. This was the first time a favorite had won since 1979 when Spectacular Bid was victorious. Since then, there have been two other winning favorites, Smarty Jones in 2004, and Street Sense in 2007. Of course, their have been some longshots that came through such as War Emblem in 2002, and Giacomo in 2005.

At Elegant Horse Pictures, we now have photos of all ten of the last Kentucky Derby winners. Not only that, we have pictures of every Derby winner since 1956, when Needles took the roses.

You’ll find big names like Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Unbridled, Alysheba, Spectacular Bid, Northern Dancer, and Citation.
