The death of the filly Eight Belles, who broke both ankles, certainly took away from spectacular performance of Big Brown, who won the race and remained undefeated.
I didn’t think that Big Brown could do it (see my earlier post) and I was felt that I made the right decision when I saw that he didn’t break right away. But you have to tip your hat to him and his connections, especially jockey Kent Desormeaux, who won his third Derby. Kent is now in elite company. Hopefully Big Brown will stay healthy.
My predictions did not pan out well at all. The only thing that I got right was the stellar performance of Eight Belles, who ran second only to break down after the race. It was really a freak injury and so, so, sad. And it opens up the whole Barbaro “can of worms” once again.
We’ve just added ten giclees from Gordon Snidow. He is one of our most popular artists and it’s always great to see new works from him.
In case you don’t know, a giclee (gee-clay) is a very beautiful form of art reproduction. It’s a fairly new process. Think of it as the equivalent of high definition television. The colors are much sharper. Unfortunately, the images that we have on our website cannot quite show the quality.
We’ve just added two new prints by artist Terri Kelly Moyers. They’re a couple of cowgirl prints. One is titled Rough and Ready and the other is titled Rockin To And Fro.
Up until now, we’ve only offered one open edition print of hers as most of her offerings have been limited editions. But these new ones are very affordable open editions.
We’re sorry that it took so long, but we finally are able to accept American Express as a form of payment. So we now offer these payment options:
VISA
MasterCard
DISCOVER
PayPal
American Express
We are happy to announce the addition of a new feature to our store. It’s called “Snap Shop” and it’s very simple and effective. If you want some quick information on one of our section pages (Tim Cox Prints, David Stoecklein Prints….).
All you have to do is place the mouse arrow over one of the thumbnail images and when it says “view details”, click on it, and it will give you a quick summary of the item.
The page will build much quicker so you will save time and you should be able to view more details of items in a shorter period of time.
You can actually have several Snap Shop windows open at the same time if you want to do some comparison shopping.
Of course you can still click on the blue text link to see the larger view of the item.
I hope that everyone enjoyed the holidays. At Elegant Horse Pictures, things were very busy and I want to thank our customers. I have THE BEST CUSTOMERS!
We’ve added something that we meant to do a long time ago. Many customers want a matching set of prints by the same artist in the same size. For example, a horse facing to the left and a horse facing to the right. The horse picture sets section is now live!
We currently have seven sets and that total will grow. We may even include some sets that do not exactly fit our horse and Western theme. So keep an eye on that section.
Will My Order Arrive Before Christmas?
That is the question that we will be hearing frequently now that it’s getting ever so closer to Christmas. The short answer to that is “it depends”.

Probably the most requested limited edition print that we’ve ever offered is As Good As It Gets by Tim Cox. We sold our last one in December of 2006 and we’ve had so many requests for it since then. I’ve search far and wide for another but could not come up with one. I had all but given up hope until someone called me a couple of weeks ago and said that she had not one or two, but FIVE of them! I was able to sweet talk her into selling them to me. I’ll probably offer three of them for sale and I’ll probably hold the other two. I’ll be up front about the price. It is $795 right now and it will probably go up with each one that we sell. We try to specialize in offering limited edition prints that other sites don’t have. This print is another feather in our cap!
If you would like to save 20% on ANYTHING in the store, simply enter “IReadBlog” in the coupon section of the order form. After doing so, twenty percent will automatically be deducted from your tab! The code is NOT case sensitive so you can enter all lower case letters if you wish. This is a great way to save on gifts for the horse lover. Even if that horse lover is you. This offer will not last very long!!!
